A school for children
from everywhere

Present Times exists for a particular kind of family: working parents who need their children educated somewhere steady and supervised, and families in remote parts of Pakistan where schooling of a contemporary standard is not easily accessible. We bring those children together, from every sort of background, and take them through a structured, character-building education.

Founded in 1982 as a primary school, the school has grown into a higher secondary institution and one of the country's most respected. Children come to us from all over Pakistan.

Faculty excellence

Mature, highly qualified teachers — post-graduates and subject specialists drawn from English-medium residential schools, with a conscientious concern for each student's progress.

Individual attention

Class sizes are kept deliberately small so teachers can give attention to each student, and a lasting relationship between teacher and pupil can form.

Twenty-four hour supervision across classroom, boarding house, playground, dining room and prep — with correction offered kindly and immediately.

Students join us in the primary school and can stay right through to college — one continuous education, with no disruptive change of school along the way.

Prep – Class 5

Foundations laid from the very first year, with teachers of higher qualification deliberately placed in the junior classes.

Middle

Class 6 – 8

Laboratory work, wider reading and the study habits students will depend on when board examinations arrive.

Secondary

Class 9 – 10

Focused Matriculation preparation, supported by supervised evening prep every day of the week.

FSc

Class 11 – 12

FSc in our college section, where students prepare for university entrance and for the responsibilities that follow it.

Our cornerstone programme

Just‑A‑Minute

JAM asks a student to speak on a given topic for sixty seconds — without hesitation, repetition or deviation. It sounds simple. It is not.

The exercise trains students to think quickly and to say what they mean clearly and in order, under real pressure. It sharpens both verbal and non-verbal critical thinking, and the confidence it builds carries into every subject on the timetable.

Boarding & student life

A home, not
just a school

For our boarders the school day does not end with the last bell. Evenings are given over to supervised prep, hobbies, indoor games and entertainment, and the whole house is looked after around the clock.

Simple daily chores teach self-reliance. Hockey, cricket and football teach the rest. And national day celebrations, debates, drama and speech contests fill a calendar that makes this somewhere children are glad to be.

Day scholars are welcome too — admitted on their readiness to take part in the school's particular way of doing things.

Admissions

Admissions policy

Present Times admits both boarders and day scholars, from Prep through FSc. Places are offered on merit and on a child's readiness to take part in the school's particular way of doing things.

How places are decided

Day scholars

Day scholars are admitted on their ability to settle into the school's environment. Because much of our work depends on a controlled setting, we look for families who will support that discipline at home.

Equal opportunity

Admission is not refused on grounds of race, colour, religion or physical disability, provided the school can properly meet the child's needs.

Places in the boarding houses are limited and fill early. Fee structure and the prospectus are shared on request.
